Chapter 12
"Neb, how's it going with the door?"
"Well Dorommer, I'd be better able to hack into the security mainframe if you and your boyfriend Ronjah, could help me solder the circuits on this door tab, we'd be inside the subway terminal booth. "Sorry Nebuzarack, but we don't abuse our Plasmar abilities like that." Ronjah winked at Dorommer, who was busy sharpening his sword.
"What are you talking about?! You guys play with your elemental abilities all the time!"
"What Ronjah means, is that we don't want to risk destroying the keypad." Nebuzarack rolled his eyes as continued soldering the wires on the keypad.  "I'm going to go check on Maxarius and Aris, see if they've found anyone," Ronjah said, summoning his longsword Xavier and walking off towards the sewer gate. "Don't worry Lieutenant, I'll keep Neb safe," Dorommer yelled to Ronjah, who was already far off in the distance. "Now will you help me," an angry Nebuzarack asked Dorommer.

These sewers were a dark and disgusting place, but they didn't hold a candle to the Death world of Dylydia. Every Royal Marine of the 42nd went through basic there, and only the best of them graduated, let alone live. However, one did not want to behave brashly in the situation at hand. After all, the C.G.A had underestimated the ability of the Zytids and Maxarius could tell from the mangled corpses covered in mold. He was kind of glad that he had a medic with him. He was a bit tentative that it was Aris. Aris was the best trained medic of the 42nd of Dylydia, but she had a very surprising knack for technology. He had been surprised when she hadn't stayed behind to work on the terminal station's keypad. Well, he thought, sometimes you had it and sometimes you didn't. "Anything on your side Aris," He radioed in. Ronjah had gotten the wireless communicators to work despite the Strike pylon's EMP effect. However, they could only message to anyone on the island. "No I don't see anything right now just mold and more- whoa, I think I saw a bug crawl from out of this mold mass." "Where are you," Maxarius replied, as wondered past a pile of rubble.
"I'm at the intersection of four tunnels, I'm texting you my coordinates."
"Ok I'll meet you there to help investigate this."

The lower levels of the sewer weren't as bad as the upper levels, especially at this time of year. Most of the water here had been purified of whatever sewage filled the top layers. And yet the walls were surprisingly moldy.  The crawling bugs did not help Jenniah's efforts to revive her friend. "Ilis, wake up! This is the second time I've found you unconscious today! We've got to get out of the bottom level of these sewers." Jenniah shook Ilis' arm violently. Then she got an idea. "Is that Dorommer with his shirt off," she whispered into Ilis' ear with a smirk on her face. Ilis' eyes fluttered open. "Where?" she asked, desperate to see Dorommer's well-toned body. "He's not here I just said that to wake you up. Now follow me I think I see some light off in the distance. It took them a while, but the two Iluun found where the light was coming from. They were right across the cliff where Dorommer and Nebuzarack had set up base.  They could just hear the cries of the Horkuus bats over the sound of the rushing water escaping from the sewer pipe they were standing in. The glint of the sun over the exposed glass of Dorommer's new HQ was beautiful. "Hurry Jenniah, I have a supply cache close by!" Ilis took Jenniah's hand and they both jumped off the waterfall into the deep, water-filled pit below.

It was hard to breathe in the subway. The mold was so thick it was creating spores. The annoying little mold roaches didn't help either. Nebuzarack had squashed an untold number of them, but they kept crawling up his body. They were worse than gnats. Ok, I think I've got the wires soldered properly. Nebuzarack punched a few codes into the hacked keypad, and with a few beeps the terminal station room door unlocked. "Great, finally something that works." Dorommer texted on his wrist communicator to let Ronjah know that Nebuzarack had cracked the code. "Let's wait so Ronjah can be here to help check the generator. Don't want to grab the fragment without him."
"So, "Nebuzarack began, "When did you first meet Ronjah?"

Aris was right. The amount of mold in the sewers was leptcha. They had just made it back to the first Command bunker they had found, and it was already covered in the bluish-brown mold that had covered the bodies Aris had found. "Do you think this could be zytid related?"
Maxarius and Aris quickly turned around, their guns drawn.
"Calm down, it's me, Ronjah," Ronjah said as he jumped from a ledge created by the rubble. "We have to get going, Dorommer's opened the door. I'm going to scorch the area. Hurry through that gap I came out of it's a shortcut."
"Yes sir," Aris and Maxarius said in unison, as they ran leaving Ronjah, burning away the area with zaps of lightning arcing from his fingertips.
At the terminal, all was chaos. Again. "Where the hell did they come from?!"
"I don't know, Neb, but I'm kinda glad they came for round two, I was itching for a fight."
Dorommer was sprinting across the terminal platform, covered in his fire cloak splitting Zytids apart as if they were sticks of butter for his behemoth of a sword. Nebuzarack however was having problems keeping the things away from him. His assault rifle was built for its splash damage, not its rate of fire, and the zytids moved fast. He would have to think like a Royal Marine and not an Insian guardsman. Nebuzarack shot at the ceiling, causing a rockslide with in the tunnel, killing a large amount of the bastards, then shot the rubble unleashing fragments that pierced another large group of the monsters. "Be careful," Dorommer yelled, ripping apart a burning zytid with his bare hands, "you don't want to cause a cave in."
Dorommer was unaware of the zytid leaping towards him with the intention of biting his throat and Nebuzarack was powerless to stop it. However, the poor thing never got to his target. Two large Wood Hawk magnum rounds had found their place inside the zytid's skull. "Maxarius glad you and Aris could join the party, where's Ronjah and Hurricane?"
"Glad to be here, Neb, Ronjah's burning away some mold that had started growing in the tunnels. I don't know what Hurricane's off doing though."
"What happened to the rest of our team?"
"I don't know Aris; they started disappearing at about the same time these guys showed up. I think the two events are related."
The Environmental Petroleum Conservation Office underground tunnel system led straight to the terminal system which was peculiar to Hurricane. He had decided to go to the surface and complete his primary mission: Find the E.P.C.O service index and retrieve all information regarding monetary transactions from it. It was a black op, but someone had to do it. He had just made his way back to the terminal station when he saw a multitude of zytids surrounding the terminal platform. Hurricane looked around trying to find a high perch for a better vantage point and saw a ladder on the terminal station that led to a room that where he could safely pick off the zytids. Hurricane shouldered his DLR tactical rifle, unsheathed his combat knife and ran towards the terminal. Stabbing, and shoving the creatures aside, Hurricane had found his way to the second level's door. It was locked, but there nothing D.O.C boot couldn't fix. Shutting the door after himself, Hurricane smashed a five inch hole through the window overlooking where the zytids were coming from. Now it was time to properly send them to Morgoroth.
This was getting boring. Dorommer had thought that fighting them with his bare hands would make it interesting, but they were still Too easy to kill. They were no more challenging than C.G.A infantrysau. He was growing bored and impatient. Dorommer focused his zealots rage and unleashed it in a swirling vortex of fire killing most of the zytids in the vicinity. Sadly, the dead zytids were immediately replaced by more angry ones. "What in origin's name…" Dorommer mumbled.
Things get heated as Dorommer and Nebuzarack attempt to get the terminal station opened. Meanwhile, Maxarius and Aris look for survivors ad mist the rubble of the command bunker.
